Microsoft announced very favorable financing plans in which resellers have 90 days to pay Microsoft for software purchased. Effectively, this means that Microsoft is helping finance the reseller organizations by extending them such favorable terms. This announcement generated many cheers from the audience. Additionally, Microsoft announced plans to launch Microsoft Financing (Via Total Solution Financing via Microsoft Capital). Basically Microsoft has entered the financing business and effective December 15, 2002, resellers will be able to finance both the hardware, software, and implementation fees over an extended period of time. And why not? Microsoft has $4 billion in cash laying around and at today's rates, this cash is not earning much interest. Microsoft has made two shrewd moves that helps them put their excess cash to work for them. - END - |
