Talks Linux

Scott Handy of IBM delivered a presentation concentrating mostly on the Linux operating system and related platform. Highlights from his presentation are presented below: 

“IDC projects that Linux sales will continue to be the fastest growing operating system for the foreseeable future.” Further, “IDC projects Linux related sales to reach $6 billion by 2005.”

The fancy slide shown below was used to illustrate the how ACCPAC, IBM & Linux fit together to offer a complete business information solution.

Scott stated “I have customers [running on Linux] who tell me that they do not have reboot for years.”

Scott discussed the merits of Linux and described the wide array of Linux based solutions as shown in the slide above. The slide below shows the expected acceptance curve for Linux in the future.

Scott then turned attentions towards the opportunities that Linux offers – which reaches well into the billions of dollars:

 

The slide below was used to further explain Scott’s point that Linux can be used in a multitude of industry situations.

As seen in the slide below, Scott finally tied his presentation to the IBM DB/2 database – we all knew it was coming.

Scott then rewarded the four ACCCPAC dealers shown in the screen below checks for achieving various milestones with Linux and ACCPAC. David Hood handed out the checks for thousands of dollars as Scott Handy announced the winners:
